On a prominent street, in one of Edmonton’s most sought after west-end neighbourhoods, is a funky little house right out of the 60’s. The home would be perfect to film an episode of Mad Men or even That 70’s Show. But while retro may be interesting, it’s not so easy to sell in today’s market. So what does one do?

It begs the question – what’s more valuable? The home or the lot? When you’re talking about an area of the city like Crestwood, Parkview or even the desirable Valleyview Drive, with its incredible view of the city’s downtown skyline overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley, having a home from an older time period sitting on land like that – makes a demolition worth it. The land value alone coupled with the exclusivity and…

The Edmonton real estate market has never been hotter. With so much inventory on the market how do you make your home stand-out from the rest?

Home staging is one of the tools Kerri-lyn and Jason Holland have come to rely on for making a great first impression with buyers.

“Home staging is extremely important in painting your home in the best possible light to prospective buyers, and it’s proven to sell a home faster and for a better price, says Kerri-lyn Holland with Holland and Associates. “It’s one of our proven strategies in selling a home. We want to ensure the home looks pristine and move-in-ready. We work with professional stagers and then get the home photographed, we take video, and we capture the home in all its staged glory so we can…

It’s officially been one year since we all started spending the majority of our time at home. It’s no wonder that those outdated kitchen cabinets, the dog pee stains on the carpet, the lack of office space, the scratches in the hardwood, the dents in the living room walls, and the lack of storage space, is all you can see when you look around your home, at the same walls, day-in and day-out.

If you want to remodel every square inch of your home, you’re not alone. How much longer can you possibly stare at the same four walls of inadequate space design?

But before you pull out the measuring tape, there are lots of things to consider before you start swinging the sledgehammer.

Most people want to start their renovation beautifying the…

These are just a few ways to describe Designer Amanda Lwanga’s bold and intentional designs with plenty of mid-century influences mixed in with her own signature style. With over 12 years of experience in design and project management, Lwanga completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Systems Engineering in 2007 before gaining her Masters of Advanced Studies in Architecture in 2016. After a decade in her field she left her industry position to pursue her passion: opening her design firm Linger Design Studio in 2017.

“I decided there was no time like the present to just jump with two feet and really build my own firm,” says Lwanga.
