This month on the blog we head over to a stunning listing in the Bonnie Doon sub-division of River Heights to check in with Designer Cory Christopher for his tips on Holiday Tablescaping done two ways. This segment was created in partnership with Cory and his team as part of ‘A Very Cory Christmas’. The virtual on demand event includes 4 hours of workshops, DIY projects and Christmas decor inspiration, to check out the entire selection of workshops available click here.

Mix & Match

Use a variety of different festive plating options to add visual interest and texture. Using your regular dinner plates as a base and stacking on top a mix of appetizers plates will help you utilize what you already have while still adding an extra festive touch.

Select Winter Friendly Patterns for Longevity

Select linens like tablecloths and napkins in a winter friendly more neutral colour palette to give them more longevity for use throughout the entire season instead of just strictly for the holidays. Finish off with an extra special napkin ring and you’re covered.

Add Living Greens

Live Cypress potted in fun and creative containers placed along the length of the table not only create an instant bounty of holiday cheer they also emit the most beautiful aroma, really enveloping all of your senses for the festive season.

Simplify Your Tablescape

By using just a few key pieces, like gleaming crystal wear, gold cutlery, chic candlesticks and a selection of appetizer plates you can create a more minimal table dressing that still looks upscale, beautiful and festive.

Embrace the Pink

Although you may be inclined to lean more towards traditional green and red colour palettes for your tablescaping, embrace a more non traditional accent colour for a fun way to really blow the socks off a typical tablescape. Pinks, purples and even navy are all great options to play with.

Add Ornaments to Your Florals

Add in coloured ornaments to your fresh floral arrangements for that extra pop of colour and sparkle. Vary the size and finish, making sure there’s a good variety happening.

Layer for a Finished Look

Sprinkling a trail of rose petals, jingle bells or other adornments down the length of the table adds that extra layer of visual interest for a polished, pretty and super high end look.

We’d like to thank Cory for the opportunity to support ‘A Very Cory Christmas’ and all of the great festive programming to boost holiday spirits and festive decor this holiday season!
