What better way to kick off the New Year! This month we're excited to have guest contributor and astrological style expert Greg Polkosnik dish on your fabulous year ahead. So get cozy, grab a latte and see what your 2020 Horoscope has in store:
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
The focus is on your workplace throughout 2020, so why not turn your gaze elsewhere when you’re not at work? Creating a space to get away from it all will be a wise move in the upcoming year. Whether that’s a spa, a home yoga studio or an outdoor room where you can decompress, try to make room in your life for a little rest and relaxation. With Mars retrograde in your sign through much of autumn, escape will be a necessary part of your routine. It may take some discipline to schedule those breaks into your calendar, but your productivity will depend upon it. Don’t waste a minute believing that you have no time for yourself.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
The opportunity to roam into greener pastures will be a theme for you bulls throughout the New Year. Whether it's travel on your mind, or purchasing a home away from home, leaving your comfort zone won’t seem out-of-character in 2020 as Jupiter inspires you to wander farther than you have in recent memory. Still, don’t let your newfound adventurousness get the best of you. From mid-May through late June, you could be inspired to spend your life savings on something that seems too good to be true. Think twice before you sign on the dotted line, even if you feel as if this is the time to take life by the horns.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Renovations may seem like a good idea as the year begins. But remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your new kitchen won’t be either. The feeling as if nothing is happening fast enough for you will be pervasive throughout 2020, and especially in late spring and early summer – the time of year that you normally shine. Spare yourself the trouble of having nothing work out as planned by planning nothing. As midsummer approaches, get your project off the ground by designing a virtual version online. You can always change your mind later, and – believe me – in 2021, you will change your mind. It’s in the stars!
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Living with others can be a real chore, even for someone who is naturally inclined to make a house a home for everything from stray kids to stray cats. In 2020, you may have to work twice as hard to bring harmony to your domestic situation, especially if you begin to feel as if no one else is pulling their weight around the house. Streamline your routine by investing in the sort of gadgets that make your life easier, like a robot vacuum. Even better, get yourself a smart speaker so you can drown out the background noise when it no longer sounds like music to your ears. We all need a break sometimes!
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Orderliness is not necessarily your strong suit, Leo. You can be far too busy living your best life to worry about the time it takes to remain organized. However, in the upcoming year, minding the details is a skill you should take the time to develop. If that isn’t in your wheelhouse, maybe it’s time to pay someone else to do it for you. Perhaps there is a professional closet organizer in your future, or a personal assistant in your stars. 2020 is your year to declutter, before things get out of hand. Don’t leave it until 2021 when someone else might do it for you out of sheer exasperation.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
2020 is the year to work on your “curb appeal” – both literally and figuratively. The impression you leave on others now is going to be something that you’ll be living with for the next decade or so. Make the most of these cosmic circumstances and show everyone why you Virgo natives are known for your discernment. And don’t stop with a fresh coat of paint. Get your hands dirty and introduce yourself to the therapeutic benefits of gardening. The fresh air will do you good, and the groundwork you do now will carry you into the future with a sense of connectedness you haven’t experienced before. Breathe it in!
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
With Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto all in the homey fourth house of your chart as 2020 begins, making your house a home will be a theme throughout the new year. Don’t fight the urge to purge the contents of every room, but do try to take on one project at a time. Creating an unlivable space for weeks and weeks will only make you resent the process of upgrading, particularly in May and June when your plans go awry. Your enemy in the new year will not be that contractor who is always late, but rather an unrealistic agenda you impose on yourself. Remember that good things come to those who wait.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
You’re not normally the most fashion-conscious creature in the zodiac, Scorpio. However, 2020 might see you playing catch-up with the latest styles as you feel the need to show everyone else that you’re not two steps behind the trends. Still, a throwaway aesthetic isn’t your style, no matter what the stars are telling you. Trust your long-term vision in late January, then stick with those well-laid plans for the rest of the year. Fickleness can get the best of you now, especially near your birthday when you’re usually feeling decisive. On the other hand, walls were meant to be painted.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
It’s time to take a good look around you to see what you’ve accumulated over the past couple of years, whether that’s a houseful of kids, books, dust, etc. Then ask yourself if that’s what you want to look at for the next decade. 2020 will provide you with the opportunity to not only evaluate your possessions, but to reconsider what you truly value. Pay homage to those things by creating an environment where you can not only appreciate what you’ve got, but also share those things with others. There is nothing to be gained by keeping it all to yourself.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
When things are going your way, Capricorn, you often feel as if the other shoe is about to drop: no one is more suspicious of good luck than an old goat like you. And for that reason, you sometimes deny yourself the opportunity to capitalize on luck. That would be a mistake in 2020 as the stars are on your side for much of the year. However, your good fortune may sometimes feel as if it’s connected to someone else’s misfortune, like selling your house right before a downturn in the market. But that is the way of the world; you win some and you lose some. This is your year to win. Take advantage of it.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
If nothing seems to be happening quickly enough for you lately, don’t go off the rails trying to get nowhere fast. This is a pivotal year in your life, Aquarius. Unfortunately, the big planetary event that will make 2020 memorable doesn’t happen until late December. To avoid a train wreck before then, try to get through the rest of the year by ensuring that you’re ready for what’s ahead. Do what it takes to get a good night’s sleep each and every night. If that means getting a bedroom of your own to avoid listening to someone snore like a freight train, so be it. Don’t sacrifice your well-being just so someone else can rest easy.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
The new year will not only have you feeling sociable, but also eager to expand your social network. Consider the idea of making your home a place to entertain your new friends. Use the technology you have at your disposal to create a space where people can gather. But more importantly, get online and figure out who can help you with the details that you’re likely to miss when you’re redesigning your living space – that load-bearing wall isn’t going anywhere! Accepting help when you need it can be your biggest challenge in any year, Pisces. 2020 will be no exception.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2020!
