With their children grown the sellers of 13810 Ravine Drive, Michael and Shelley, are downsizing. However, they plan to stay in the neighbourhood for its tight-knit community feel. They admit that leaving their current home will be tough, “It’s a green oasis. All you see is green any way you look,” says Michael, but they’re looking forward to this new chapter in their life as empty nesters.

Sellers Michael and Shelley tell us that the original owner would travel between Edmonton and Phoenix, taking inspiration from his Arizona house with some of this home’s design. This is evident in the overall structure and finishes like the granite fireplace surrounds that pull warm sandy tones and stacked stone features throughout.

Michael’s favourite room in the house is the upstairs bonus room styled as a study which feels like a true retreat with its full-height windows that provide sweeping park views, private balcony, and cozy fireplace feature. Stacked stone acts as a design piece and feature wall complemented by maple-toned built-in cabinetry. Perfect for working late or as a place to unwind, the room features a wet bar with a stunning hammered copper basin sink and antique-inspired copper faucet.

Shelley says guests fall in love with the home’s great room. Its sunken footprint draws attention to its impressive 20’ ceiling and a two-story stone fireplace feature steals the show. She brings attention to how the granite surround complements the stone perfectly and both Michael and Shelley love how the room’s floating spiral staircase feels like an art piece of its own.

As dog owners, the couple spends a lot of time in Faith Clifton/Alan MacDonald Memorial Park located directly behind their home. “It’s become an informal meeting place for neighbours and their dogs,” says Michael. The couple love the tight-knit community in the area. Community members even host an informal block party in the park space out front each year on the Summer Solstice.
