Are you dreaming of a European getaway, but the 8-hour flight might be a little too long for your taste? Good news! Now you can get a taste of the stunning European architecture that the continent is so well known for mere minutes outside of Edmonton’s downtown core.

The beautiful new development is called Manchester Square and it’s located on the northwest corner of 120 Street and 107 Avenue in Queen Mary Park. This one of a kind building replaces an old brick warehouse and will now be home to 20 locally owned shops and businesses.

“The project is trying to emanate Europe and the European lifestyle. The whole strategy behind the design is to entice tenants and patrons to enjoy the design and style," said Anton Morgulis, the developer from 76…

Flipping a house into your dream home is a great way to build your investment but it’s certainly not for the faint of heart and can take a lot of money and resources that most already time-stretched families don’t have to spare. If you don’t have a team of HGTV professionals to help you through, another great option to consider might be buying a turn-key home in one of Edmonton’s emerging neighbourhoods. These newer communities are specifically tailored to families and first-time buyers looking to start their next chapter, and they can be an excellent place to build a home.

A shining example is the northeast community of Crystallina Nera. Perched at the very top of North Edmonton slotted between 82 Street and 66 Street just south of the Anthony…

On a beautiful warm summer evening in south-east Edmonton, Michele Theoret relaxes and watches her sons play by the water as they frolic with the family dog.  It’s a common pastime for the yoga training instructor and psychology counselor, who values peaceful surroundings in her neighbourhood and life. For this lucky family, the beautiful, enriching environment is accessible not only down the street at the Lake Summerside community beach, but incorporated right into their own home.

“The house itself has become such a lifestyle,” says Michele. “You’ll notice my meditation corner randomly in my living room instead of having a separate space where I practice -- quite often I'll get up in the morning before everybody gets up and even if it's…

Finding a home that is right for you is more than just finding the right house, it’s finding your community, the people and things that excite you, bring you comfort, and make you feel like you are in the place you belong. When looking to fill those needs, the growing and thriving community of Rosenthal should easily be at the top of your list. The community on Edmonton’s far west end, is bordered by 231 Street on the west, Winterburn Road on the east, Whitemud Drive to the south, and to the north by the future extension of Webber Greens Drive. Whether you are a family looking for a community to raise children, or a single working adult wanting a home with easy access to the major arteries, Rosenthal is the community that has something for everyone.

School’s out for the summer and somewhere between popsicle dyed tongues and lazy days in the sun, it’s almost inevitable that you could be hearing the “Mom, Dad I’m bored” mantra from your kiddos. We’ve put together some of our favourite ways to get the kids out, active and enjoying some family time this summer.

Take a Hike

We are so lucky here in Edmonton to have such a picturesque and expansive network of trails weaving in and out of the river valley and beyond. There are plenty of routes that are kid-approved, so lace up, slap on the sunscreen and wander away.

Backyard Movie Night

This is the kind of activity that childhood memories are made of. Simply string up a sheet, pop some kettle corn and gather all the extra blankets and…

There’s never been a better time to head out west — to the beautiful community of Secord, in Edmonton’s changing far end of the city.

Not too long ago, the west end was defined by classic neighbourhoods like Belmead and Aldergrove and that shop till you drop world-famous West Edmonton Mall.  Fast forward a couple of decades, new areas have sprung up, linked by Anthony Henday Drive, making it easier than ever for families to move further from the core.  This new area offers fine affordable houses, modern day retail and transportation, and the virtues of a happy simple family life which keep homeowners rolling in to the naturally friendly, lush neighbourhood of Secord.

Rooted in the outskirts of Edmonton for over ten years, the popular Secord…

Bright, Bold & with an Entrepreneurial Spirit.  That’s the perfect definition of Edmonton’s popular urban centric Westmount neighbourhood.   Located off Groat Road and minutes from the university and downtown, it includes the popular 124th Street area shops and restaurants with a mix of character homes that blends history with modern charm.

A community that consistently places in the top 5 neighbourhoods to live in the city, it’s where Ryan Lister calls home, and where he crafts specialty soaps on the side.  Ryan launched Westmount Soap Company a few years back and cleverly names each one after Edmonton neighbourhoods, like Oliver, Glenora and Summerside. His most popular bar of course happens to be the neighbourhood he lives in – Westmount – and…
